All Energy Community Contracting Parties now in EU energy statistics, 28 Oct 2015

Following the Secretariat’s request concerning the collection and treatment of energy related data from all its Contracting Parties, the European Commission and EUROSTAT, the EU’s statistical office, agreed that from now on not only the data submitted by EU Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries, but also by any other current Contracting Party will be processed by EUROSTAT.

Consequently, all Contracting Parties of the Energy Community, including Moldova and Ukraine, are now able to submit their energy statistics to EUROSTAT as obliged by the reporting rules detailed in the Regulation (EC) No 1099/2008 on energy statistics and Directive 2008/92/EC concerning a Community procedure to improve the transparency of gas and electricity prices charged to industrial end-users.

Furthermore, EUROSTAT will be able to process other energy related data for which reporting is requested based on the Energy Community acquis, subject to a sufficiently high level of quality being ensured. This relates to Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency and Council Directive 2009/119/EC on compulsory oil stocks as adopted in the Energy Community.
