Energy Community and Serbian Ministry agree on Srbijagas unbundling, 20 Feb 2015

Progress with the unbundling of the state-owned gas incumbent Srbijagas was achieved at a meeting between Deputy Director Dirk Buschle and the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Aleksandar Antić. The Ministry and the Secretariat agreed to an Action Plan according to which Srbijagas will establish a legally separate subsidiary in charge of network operation still in March 2015.

The new company will be licensed by the regulatory authority AERS as transmission system operator before the end of May 2015. The Action Plan also includes concrete steps for the separation of management responsibilities between the new company and its parent, Srbijagas, to be completed by 1 July 2015. The Secretariat will support the Ministry and Srbijagas in their activities.
“We are very happy with today’s agreement. The Ministry’s support was essential but I also feel that the management of Srbijagas is now taking its responsibility very seriously” says Predrag Grujicic, Head of Gas at the Secretariat who will coordinate the implementation.
The agreement reached yesterday is the basis for rectifying a breach of Energy Community law identified by the Ministerial Council in 2014 (case ECS-9/13).
