Community Director discusses priorities with Albanian PM and key energy decision-makers

Director Kopač and Deputy Director Buschle met with Albanian Prime Minister, Mr Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Industry, Mr Damian Gjiknuri, and Chairman of the Parliamentary committee responsible for energy, Mr Eduard Shalsi, on 26 January. The discussions focused on the country’s package of laws aimed at transposing the Third Energy Package and Albania’s priorities during its one-year presidency of the Energy Community, including preparations to mark this year’s 10th anniversary of the Energy Community.

Director Kopač said: “Albania is one of the leading countries in energy reforms in the Western Balkans today. The country has made significant progress in increasing the previously extremely low bill collection rate and initiating true market reforms. Tomorrow’s roundtable on a new Electricity Law, with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, is another demonstration of the Secretariat’s efforts to ensure a Third Energy Package compliant legal framework is in place as soon as possible.”
